EMDR Therapy &

Addiction Intervention

Are you struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, addiction, anxiety, or major life changes? There comes a time when we need some help from a certified professional to help cope with many of life’s challenges. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the greater Los Angeles area, and I’d love to help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.

Since opening the doors of my practice in 2010, I have provided patients in the Los Angeles area with a wide range of psychological services.

My specialty is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.   EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

What are the benefits of EMDR therapy?

People who are dealing with traumatic memories and those who have PTSD are thought to benefit the most from EMDR therapy.

It’s thought to be particularly effective for those who struggle to talk about their past experiences. EMDR therapy is also being used to treat:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Panic Attacks

  • Eating Disorders

  • Addictions

EMDR Workbook for Children & Adults: A Complete Guide To Treating Your Trauma. Relive Your Stress, Anger And Depression.

by Melinda Quinn  (Author)

Do you know about EMDR therapy? Are you aware of the techniques used to relieve stress, anxiety and unwanted thoughts with different eye movements? Do you want to live a stress-free life and get over your past?
Trauma is an inevitable aspect of life. You or anyone you care about has almost certainly been through trauma, whether it was "big-T" trauma like mental, physical, or sexual assault, or "little-t" trauma like divorce, loss of employment, terrible childhood events, or any scenario where you seemed worthless, frightened, or helpless. Untreated trauma may result in long-term consequences such as depression, anxiousness, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and problems sustaining intimate relationships. The best part is that we can recover. It doesn't have to be a lifelong process. Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that has been shown to help individuals recover from trauma & enhance their quality of life.
EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a relatively recent method of psychotherapy. It's gaining popularity, particularly as a treatment for PTSD. PTSD is often caused by military combat, physical violence, rape, or car accidents. Amid ongoing research, EMDR remains controversial amongst some health care professionals. EMDR has seemed to take an unconventional approach to mental problems at first glance. It has nothing to do with medication or talk therapy. In contrast, EMDR depends on the person's own quick, consecutive eye movements. The emotional effect of unpleasant memories from the past is reduced by these eye movements.

The breakthrough Eye Movement Desensitizing & Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro has been effectively utilized to treat a multitude of symptoms, like anxiety, aggression, melancholy, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These problems are often the result of previous events, yet they cause us great pain in the present and prevent us from moving on. Self-Guided EMDR Therapy delves into how EMDR may be used to address emotional problems, as well as what to anticipate during or after therapy. Before Andler leads readers through each stage of the 8-phase therapy procedure to the recovery, there are some self-help foundation exercises to do. Even if you intend to visit a professional, it is a must for anybody starting EMDR treatment.
Shapiro, the founder of EMDR, discusses how our characters evolve and why we get stuck in feelings, beliefs, and behaviors that aren't beneficial to us. Readers would start understanding themselves and why the individuals in their lives behave the way they do through comprehensive examples and activities. Significantly, readers will discover methods to enhance their interactions, knockdown emotional feelings, overcome constraints, and flourish.
